Ready or Not, Here We... GO!!

Well… we have to admit this is not at all how we had envisioned the launch of our new flower farm. We have spent the past year and a half dreaming up countless ideas, each stemming from past careers, hobbies and passion projects; refining them, turning them inside out, researching them upside down and genuinely falling in love with the process that brought us to this very moment. All of the pieces were falling into place in a way that had to be serendipitous proof that we were meant to build what we had spent so long dreaming up. And then, in early March, the world quieted and we were all sent home.

We are fortunate, our home is on the property where this idea, this dream is being built. We are still growing flowers, just as we had planned, and we are hopeful that we will soon be able to host the many sustainable events and classes we had dreamed up. But we realize this charmed land can do so much more than grow flowers. Yes, flowers absolutely raise spirits and that is why we are continuing forward along a blooming path, but flowers don’t fill bellies and bellies are going to need to be filled.

So instead of filling all of our fields with only flowers, we will be setting aside several of our fields for growing vegetables, which will be donated to two local food banks; the Community Table here in Arvada and Metro Caring in Denver. We are so grateful for the 15 seed starting strangers who are nurturing some seedlings for us during these last few cold weeks… nearly 300 plants donated so far! And we are equally grateful for the 10 fellow gardeners (I know there will be more!), also strangers, who will be growing in their own yards in partnership with us throughout the season. We look forward to keeping you all updated on how many pounds of produce we are able to get to those who need it most.

If you are interested in volunteering with harvesting and/or delivery to the food banks, please reach out… our ideas and efforts often exceed our person-power, we would appreciate the help. We are so grateful to be a part of the Arvada community and Colorado as a whole, and look forward to seeing how much we can accomplish when we all come together.

Check back in a few days for an update on our summer and fall flower CSAs. Thank you in advance for your support.
